It is an estimate of a person’s moderate body weight based on their height and weight.
BMI measurements can help us to understand whether we have underweighted or overweight.
However, the BMI of women has some limitations because it does not specifically measure body fat.

Benefits of BMI
BMI is a useful tool for understanding where a person’s weight falls in the range from underweight to overweight. It can also help people maintain moderate weight, thereby reducing the risks of:

Drawbacks of BMI
Although BMI can estimate whether a person’s weight is moderate, it does have some limitations.
As though it is related to body fat levels, BMI does not distinguish weight from fat, muscle, and bone. Therefore, a muscular person may have the same BMI as an overweight person.
