Karnan, a fearless village youth, must fight for the rights of the conservative people of his village, due to the torture given by a police officer.
Karnan lives in an suppressed village in Southern part of Tamil Nadu. Communal oppression haunts
the village and continues preying on it as unprecedented events distort Karnan’s ordinary life. In
the tremendous struggle that follows Karnan leads his village’s quest for justice and liberation.
The subversive searing saga bears surrealistic touches as it tells a rousing story of rebellion.

Trivia about karnan dhanush movie
- Karnan is based on true story that happened during 1995 in Tamil Nadu. In the movie it was said, the story is set before 1997. Since this created a political issue between the Dravidian parties in the state, so, the crew members changed Before 1997 to Post 1990.
- In the police station scenes ,the boy who owns the horse, the old lady who was paired against Lal, and few other Oldman are not professional artists. They are actually the natives from where the movie was shot.
- When Karnan watches the painters making a portrait, Yeman stops the painters from finishing the head of the portrait. It was evident that the portrait on the wall was a subtle nod to Immanuvel Sekaran, a Dalit leader who was murdered by members of an opposing caste, following which the 1957 Ramnad riots occured. In the subsequent turn of events, Yeman dies for the cause of his village, similar to Immanuvel, and ends up becoming the face of the portrait himself.
- Thoroughout the film, the girl wearing the head of a God statue symbolically appears every time Karnan fights back against the oppression of his village people.
- According to the native tradition that exists in southern rural parts of Tamil Nadu, young girls or woman who lose their life before getting married are considered equal to god. The masked girl seen in various parts of the movie is one such representation.

Karnan not a movie it’s emotion
the movie which delivers our life incident that is a good movie. karnan done it. such kind of issue faced by many people in their life career. kudos for the acting ,dialogues ,screenplay and story , every scenes create a goosebumps. Dhanush is great for choosing such kind of story .Must watchable movie.
