Suzanne Somers graduated from Capuchino High School, Mercy High School, and the University of San Francisco, Lone Mountain Campus.
She grew up in constant fear of being hurt or even killed by her alcoholic, verbally, and physically abusive father.
When she was young and a poor student, she was diagnosed with dyslexia; However, she excelled in the arts and was active in her school’s drama program.
Suzzane won a music scholarship in college but became pregnant after six months. She married her baby’s father, “Bruce Somers,” and their only son, Bruce Somers, was born in November 1965.
She was dissatisfied with her marriage and began an affair with her former theater teacher, which her husband found out and the marriage ended after two years, in 1967.
As a single mother, she turned to a model in San Francisco to support herself and her son; she also stays away from her family because her older brother and sister were also alcoholics at the time.
In 1968, she won an award-winning modeling job on a game show hosted by her future husband, Alan Hamel, who was married at the time. they began dating and she became pregnant while Hamel was still married. The conclusion that Suzanne should have an abortion from which she suffered profuse/severe bleeding for several days.
